Winston Churchill - hero or villain?

John O’Donnell says villain due to the Tonypandy miners strike, i’ll Be generous to him and say he was only allowed a one word answer.
The well known columnist Afula Hirsch states he was a racist and misogynistic but she dislikes anyone with a whiter skin than her own so her opinion is invalid.
So was he a hero or villain? We have to take into consideration that we are in different times now so what was deemed as acceptable then might not be now.
For me he will always be a hero who galvanised the British nation.

Surface - wrong about Ireland, wrong about the Empire, wrong about the General Strike, wrong about Women 's Sufferage (encouraged the cops to rough up the women when arrested).
Anything he did for workers rights was under protest and he would never have implimented Beverage.

What about his commissioning of the Beveridge Report in 1943 that led directly to the formation of the NHS? - Rubbish!

JRM was inexplicably trying to defend the fact that men women and children were placed into concentration camps 'for their own good' and then spewed utter bollocks about them having the same death rate as in Glasgow at the time. Anyone who bothered to fact check will see this is a bollocks.
But if you talk like an assertive, posh mummy's boy cunt on a dumbed down BBC TV show, you'll get plenty of helmets nodding in agreement

And that was a prisoner of War camp albeit a harsh and atrociously run one
The term Concentration camps has always, for me anyway, been about the nazi death camps, designed for industrial scale deliberate extermination

Rees Mogg had to correct some leftie on Question Tie about her use of the term ‘concentration camps’ and the old myth that the British invented them in South Africa. Big difference between an internment camp and a concentration camp

O’Donnell shouldn't have answered a daft black and white question, but at least it's opened up a (mostly) sensible debate on the man and his legacy - minus the sugar-coating bollocks.

He was on some q&a thing being interviewed was asked for one or the other ... hero or villain
People wonder why politicians waffle on with a load of old shit when if they do take part in things like this it gets twisted.
I noticed he was on Ch4 news the next day and they tried to get him to play again but he said he didn’t think you could sum up most people in one word.
Of course they asked him ... Hero or Villain ... Margaret Thatcher?

He was spot on about the reactionary nature of all totalitarian regimes (Nazi, Fascist and Soviet) in Europe. Shame he was a reactionary himself in so many ways but these is the mystery wrapped in an enigma that was Churchill.
